Took over a couple of old DS 616 systems that want voicemail. I cant find anything to tell me the svm-400 or the svmi-2 the one has software version 2.04 but all I see on GSBN is latest version which makes me think its a ksu2, any ideas?

The DS616/iDCS16 was the DCS816 in the UK so the ROM numbering may be different.
The quick way to tell is to look at the headers where the AA/VM card would install - if there is one connector below the ROMs and only one above them only an AA card can be fitted, if there is one connector below the ROMs and two connectors (adjacent to each other) above them either an AA or SVMi-2 card can be fitted.
The SVM-400 would work with either, but uses extension ports.

The firmware had support for it on either KSU. As tdw42 said you need to check the cabinet to see if its compatible with the SVMi-2e card.
