I switch out the modtap with the one I use for programming. came in this morning and seems to be holding the connection.
I will also try running the chkdsk to see if it turns anything up. and I suspect it will, last reboot, i got the boot disk not found error. so it may be a drive failing.

I came into the office this morning, and the Voicemail problem was still there, so I went to the box and was getting ready to check the logs and noticed that at somepoint yesterday the voicemail computer had rebooted, and the hard drived failed.
a second reboot brought it back up but this is a only a short term solution. looks like I need a new hardrive.

That's my guess. I'd still run the chkdsk /f It may be able to mark the bad sectors and move the data which could buy you a little time until you get the new drive installed.
