I have a cust needing to connect via serial for his equipment. What do I have to do to accomplish this? I have tried serial to ip device and it establishes a connection. No data flows to laptop on hyper terminal.

You will need to run some middleware that logs in to the port and sends it back out to a serial port.

I used aggsoft Data Logger Suite and Virtual Null Modem to connect a customers call logging application. The Logger Suite connected to the Mitel via IP and sent it back out to a virtual com port which was looped back to the one the customers smdr application looked to for data. They had to adjust their data locations by one place to over come the difference from the axxess stream.

You can use the diagnostic monitor client that is part of session manager to connect to the SMDR web port to capture the data which you can save to a file or I have some free ware that was recommended by Mitel engineer called SMDR bridge.
