I was asked to install a null modem cable between the com port on the CPU and the admin port on the Digital Voicemail system. The customer claimed they did management that way on the VM. It didn't work. They insisted I didn't know what a null modem cable is. Is this even a function of that com port? It does work fine using Admin32 and a null modem cable on a laptop.

I've never had any luck doing it with the XTS, although it worked quite well on the STSe. You have to use COM3 and enable this functionality in flash 67, but like I said, I was never able to get it to work.

Are we talking about a Flash Voice-Mail, or something else?

Like Ed says, use Flash 67. But use a straight thru cable. If I have trouble connecting, I send a reboot command to the voice mail. I do this by killing two birds with one stone by updating the time. It is always off anyway.
