I was hoping that someone could assist me in getting IP phones added to our IPO 500.
5.0 (26)
I do have a VCM32/ATM4 module in the system.
I need the basics on how to add IP phones to the system. I have worked with other VOIP system and have an understanding of how VOIP works. I will be adding this phone to a remote location with a MPLS connection to the main site.
I believe that I need to set up a tftp server on the voicemail server and possibly set up the server with IIS to get the xxupgrade.scr?
Any help or documentation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Ok,
So... I was able to get everything set up in the system but, now I get a Subnet conflict on the phone. This is obviously because the phone is at a remote site on a different subnet. Is there any way to have an IP Phone on another subnet connect with the IPO without using VPN? There is connectivity between the two sites?

What is giving DHCP? I would call a partner in. Really hard to troubleshoot IP/sub-netting issues online.

If the two subnets are routable to each other then it sounds like the default gateway is missing from either the IPO or the Phone. But like Mongo says, best to contact a local partner who can help troubleshoot - it would likely only be an hour or two.

DHCP is being handed out by our AD servers. I can add a 176 option if needed. I have configured several other voip systems including Cisco and Shoretel and should be able to figure this out...Just hard to test as most of the settings require a reboot of the system and I cannot do that during the day. Currently the DHCP mode of the IPO is set to dialin which is probably wrong. Just need the core settings to configure so I can get them set over night and tets in the morning.

Also.. Both sites are using different gateways? Will that prevent me from using the phone off-site? The IPO is on a 10.xx.xx.20 subnet with the phone being on a 172.xx.xx.254 subnet. I have set up the phone statically but I get a subnet conflict when attempting to boot.

Well...
Now that my phones have stopped ringing and I had more than 5 min to look at this, I am currently connected to the remote IPO and am updating a phone as I type this.
I will update this thread tomorrow with the steps I took to get this working for the next Admin that runs into this task.
Thanks!

Ok, So, to resolve this issue I removed the static assignment and set up option 176 in the DHCP scope. Another thing to check that was preventing the phone from connecting was an old 802.1q protocol that was enabled on the phone config. 802.1Q was preventing the phone from communicating with the router. Hope this helps someone
