I have a customer with a CIX40 system. Three CO lines, 4 phones. Immediately after installation they began having issues with the ringing. Phones would ring twice and when they answered no one was there. If they waited the phone would start ringing again and then they could answer the call. Callers said they heard ringing continuously. I placed a 2500 analog phone in front of the system and placed test calls. The system would ring twice and stop while the 2500 continued to ring normally. When the system phones started ringing again they were able to answer the call. This happens intermittently throughout the day. I have replaced the base cabinet with a new one, although I did use the same processor and sd card. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did you default the programming to see if the problem occurs?

Did you disable the Caller ID feature on the lines?

They are using caller ID and it is working. Since my first post I have changed office equipment number and moved sub. to another card, checked all copper pairs with a meter for shorts and ground, checked all peds to see if the copper lines were half tapped, installed new processor card and sd card in system and reprogrammed from scratch, and traced all I/O in the building for half taps. I cannot think of anything else to look for and the problem still occurs.

Check your incoming ring voltage first then I would look at the programming on the Toshiba, maybe get a different KSU and afterhours hook up the lines directly to a "vanilla programmed" setup to see if it is re created. Might want to look at any line protectors coming from the Telco provider, I had an issue of the carbon type of CO protectors that Bell was using was causing a problem but that was the extreme circumstance and only found it by bypassing off the NID directly to the CO card.

I have checked the ring voltage and replaced this new system with another new one. I have not bypassed the nid yet but I may try that this afternoon.
