Hello!

I am here because I need some help with remaping lights. I currently have the Comdial ExecuTech 6714 and everything works fine. I also have one Comdial ExecuTech 6706. The difference between the two is simply that the top lights on the 6714 are nonexistent on the 6706. Therefore, I cannot see who is calling from what line on my 6706. I do not have the manual for the 6706 and so I was wondering if anyone knew how to remap the line lights on the 6706 to the lights down at the bottom where the "MNTR", "MUTE", "Hold" etc. are. I would like to map my lines to lights like that. I have lights down there that aren't being used by things like monitor or mute and I would like my line lights mapped to those. If anyone knows how to do that I would appreciate their knowledge here.
If you are interested in helping but need more information, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks so much!

That phone worked on a few systems. What is the model number of the KSU?

I am sorry, I am very new at this so please bear with my crazy questions, but, what is the KSU?

Or better, is there a place where I can read about all of the terms and things to familiarize myself with the language?

Thanks,

Wow, I really feel stupid. The KSU is the system unit. The model number of my unit is N1024.

Can anyone please help me with this?

Do you have the system installation/program manual? Do you have a contract tech or is this a DIY project? The manual is readily available on line but it is pretty confusing unless you have played with these systems before.

I am older than dirt and this system was obsolete when I started selling Comdial in 1991.

Yeah, this system is older than I am. I do not have the manual or anything. My 6714 phones are going bad simply because they are so old. There is a business site that sells the phones that work well and I was looking into buying some 6706 model phones. I just need to reprogram the lights on the phone itself to have the lines show up on the bottom section since the 6706 does not have the top lights.
I did not think it was difficult, I just do not even know where to begin. I could not find the manual for free, but there is a site that sells it for $10 which is not bad.
Also, I am only assuming that my system is an "XE" system because it is not any of the other types, but no where on the system or any of the phones does it say "XE". It simply says "N1024". I have pictures of the system if that would help in some way. I just do not want to replace this system because it still works, I just need to replace the phones.

No, I do not have a contract tech, that warranty ran out ages ago and I do not like spending massive amounts of money per hour for a guy to do something simple.
If this little job of remaping lights is that difficult then I will just say screw it and buy the 6714 phones. smile

I really just need some advise at this moment because I am at a crossroads of what to do.

Thanks a ton for your replies,

I also have another box next to it that says PC3000, but I do not know if it has anything to do with the Comdial system.

Wow, this system must be even older than I thought if no one knows how to reprogram lights... frown

Of course we know how to do it. What you are asking is dealer only knowledge. We all went to school and paid for training to know how to do this. This is the way we make our living. I not think anyone will give you free information on this. Either buy the manual and learn it yourself or contact a local dealer who can do it for you. Cost would most likely be $100 to $150.00 If you look at this as a hobby then buy the manual and give it a try. If you want to do it right and not waste your time call a certified tech. Good luck with it
