Hi Everyone,
I have recently acquired a Nortel 616 with 4x8 software. I am able to power on the system and the phones, too. However, I cannot seem to program them. I have the M7324 phone and the Triangle indicator lamps are flashing on the phones. Are these phones broken or how do I set them? I have the DR5 manual but could this be the wrong one? Anyone who knows anything about this please help!!! WE need to get a working phone system!

If you have DR5 in the system the phone should come up but i do beleive that the M7324 phones didnt work on the first software versions of the 6X16 so you probably have dr1 or something like that.
In any case you can use an m7208 phone to do all the programming.

Thought you had to use a M7310 to program those early 616s...but it has been so long I could be wrong.

Sounds like a DR1 4x8. Program with a M7208. Best option though is to swap out the s/w card to a DR5 6x16 and be done with it.

Thanks. I will use M7208 to program it. However, once I program it will I be able to use the M7324?

If it's DR1 software, no to the M7324. I also doubt that the "T" series will work either. Cheap to upgrade to DR5.
Passwords are the same unless they've been changed by the previous installer, tech or owner.

No such thing as 4X8 6X16 means just that....6 lines and 16 digital station ports.
Be careful about swapping software as there is DS and NON DS softwares and KSU's
DS KSU's have turquoise writing on it vs black writing.

Many years ago there was a limited release of 4x8 software that went in the 6x16 cabinet. Drove me crazy trying to add a 5th line at a site. If he does indeed have that software, upgrade it before it drives you crazy.
