Hi All, We have a Mitel 3300 with a quad BRI card. We want to put another test pbx behind it and use the 3300 as a gateway to outside lines. My question is how do I configure ports 3 and 4 in such a way as to present them as ISDN trunks to the second PBX? Mitel documentation seems quiet on this as does google.
Thanks all.

You guys don't like the difficult questions do you? :-) I eventually got a panasonic back to back with the Mitel and can do desk to desk calls using the Sbus trunks. What I cant do is break out of the Mitel ISDN 30 on the Panasonic. If i dial a mitel speed dial from the panasonic, then that works. but if I select a line on the panasonic, then dial the isdn 30 access code (9) then an external number, the call is rejected by the Mitel. Any ideas?

Never messed with S-bus, but I'll tell you that the most likely problem is that the Mitel is mis-reading the access code and trying to dial it through. Try changing the access code to something besides 9. Even *9 or #8 or 72 should work.
Had a problem with DNIS once, where the incoming DNIS started with 8xx, which dialed out of the switch and gave me a trunk error on the other side. I suspect that you have a similar issue.

It's not so much a "difficult question" as it is a matter of how well do you understand how the PRI and Mitel need to be programmed. You have several areas of programming that need to be addressed. As a brief example, are the channels set up for DNIS and, if so, how are the DNIS digits being routed? I can think of, at least, six other program areas that directly affect how this would work.
I have successfully connected two Mitel ICPs via point to point T-1 using PRI. There's a lot of "gotchas" in there so you need to be careful in how to set up the trunks. Forms 3, 13, 15, 19, 21, 23, 26, 42 and 54 come to mind and I know there are others.

Answer the phone,
Have you been able to establish the link between the two PBXs already?
There are a few things to consider to acomplish what you are after:
(Only do this for ports 3 and 4 of on your Quad BRI)
1. First of all you need to make a custom cable where PINS 4&5 are crossed with 3&6. You are going to use this cable to connect port 3 on your mitel to your other PBX.
2. The other thing to do is to change the BUS Type to T, this is done in ISDN Protocol form
3. Also, create a new digital link descriptor where the Address for Message control is set to A.
All other parameters should be equivalent as what you have for ports 1 amd 2 of your Quad BRi
give it a try, this should work no problem.
As you are goint to use your Mitel as a gateway you should do some programmimg on your ARS.
Good luck
