I'm trying to set up a TD-1232 to operate with an IVR. the last time I did this was in 05. I haven't been able to find how to program an ext number for the key set ring group in this system. Are there some of these systems it can't be done on. the last one I did had an ext # of 294.

Older systems had a phantom extension ring option. There was a section in programming where you told it what the phantom extension number was, then you would program that phantom extension on a specific button on the phones, and I believe only 8 phones could have the button.
If it is a really early system, it may not have the phantom ring option at all.

In Maint console go to System/ look at 14 and 15.
14 tells the ext of the 8 groups. 15 allows to set groups for function. EXP: set 4 for R (=Ring) That would be ext 194.
If vm function is needed make MB 194. Xfer will need to be Supervised for this MB.
Put phones you want to ring in this group. (Stations/Station1/EXG)
You may also use Phantom ext, if you have it, depends on VM used if it will use number.
