I have a NEC Aspire with a Earthlink PRI that is driving me crazy. Since the PRI was installed, we cannot limit the number of calls per DID. For example on a fax line I have the "Maximum number of DID calls(Program 22-11-08) set to 1. The first incoming call works just fine, the second call instead of getting a busy hears a "number not in service" message. It is acting like the number is not defined at all in the Dial in Conversion table after it hits the maximum number of DID call limit for that DID. How do I have the switch send a busy cause code for a specific DID if it reaches the maximum number?
Thanks!
Matt

That field should be set to 0 not 1. If that SLT fax is busy and has no multi appearance it should give a busy unless Earthlink has something messed up.

Thanks for the response. If I set that field to 0 then it allows unlimited calls. I need a way to limit the number of calls coming into a DID. For example we sell tickets for the circus every year and have a "Ticket" DID that points to a ACD. Last year it filled up all the PRI channels with incoming calls to the ticket line and no one could make a call. So I need to find a way to limit each DID. Some may be pointing to digital phone extensions, some to ACDs, and others to SLTs.
I'm stuck because the local dealer does not know how to fix it. I volunteer for this organization and help out with their technical work so I'm trying my best to solve this. I know phone systems fairly well and have installed many, but never worked with a ASPIRE on a PRI. So I'm trying my best!
When I set the field to anything other than 0. The phone does not know how to route it when its above that number. I had Earthlink run a log of what is going on. This is the second call coming in after the first call is still connected.

You have something configured wrong (switch or Earthlink). Are you certified on the Aspire? There is such a long list of stuff to verify to even see if the basic stuff is correct.

I agree something is configured wrong. I am not certified on the Aspire. The local NEC dealer cannot fix it. I am willing to pay an expert to log into the system and help figure it out. I have a PC connected to it with remote access. My email is Matt @ lightnerelectronics.com
Thanks

Have you tried setting the the field to 2 instead of 1? That would allow a 2nd call to be presented to the system.

Local certified dealer can call NTAC for support and they should be able to get you fixed up or at least find where the fault is.

Bill,
I just tried that. The second call then just rings forever and does not seem to be routed anywhere. In 22-11-04(transfer operation mode) it says no transfer and 22-11-05 and 22-11-06 are blank. This should cause a busy....

OK I fixed the problem. I asked the dealer to upgrade the firmware when the PRI card was installed. I remember they told me that it wouldn't take the upgrade...... So for the heck of it, I decided to order a 32mb flash card from Ebay and try it. The firmware was updated from 6.03 to 7.32. I then initialized the programing to factory defaults and reloaded everything from a backup made on PCPro. It works!!! Now I get a proper busy when the calls exceeds the maximum number of dialed in calls in the conversion table.
So much for the "Certified" dealer. I swear from what I've learned about this switch in the last few months I can do just about anything with it now. I think it turns out the problem was buggy firmware or something corrupted in the database. It was not a programing issue which is what I kept looking at.

Good for you! I would have had you fixed up in an hour (or less). That's the difference between knowing what you are doing and not and getting paid for that knowledge. Fwiw, 7.32 isn't the latest software either. Love to do a cost analysts on this one! Thanks for sharing!
