I have about 25 offices around the country. Most have small Axxess systems, some have other brands.

We do not make a LOT of calls between offices, but enough to look into a low-cost VOIP setup.

Most of the ones I have seen were pretty expensive, but that was 3+ years ago and I think from Inter-tel themselves with a dedicated fractional T-1 at each location for voice only.

I have seen devices on Ebay(yea I know...) that being said I was looking at the devices similar to auction 270092849066. A pair for $125ish. I was wondering if anyone has been able to use similar devices to "IP Enable" their system.

I am not advocating the auction or the seller, I have no idea how they would work and use them as an example only. I hate it when people slip in commercials in forums like at fatwallet or slickdeals all the time.

Has anyone been able to do this with an Axxess system? Or is this more trouble than it is worth?

I'd guess the latter. IP enabling your Axxess systems would give you more than just toll bypass, but we've found some our customers can upgrade to the 5000 platform for less than the cost of the IPRC, Networking license and Voice channels (reusing phones, VM and apps). But first, with any VoIP project, you need to focus on the network. If you plan on using the public internet, be prepared for headaches. If you have a WAN in place, have a network assessment done first, one that takes into account the nmumber of calls between sites, peak traffic, and acceptable voice quality. Feel free to email me if you need further consultation - my comoany is an Authorized Intertel Partner.
