Please help me figure out how to do this! We have our phone system set up with the Automated Attendant so when customers call in they can enter our extension or dial by name option. How do I change or remove an name of someone no longer here and update with new employee name.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Different voicemails have different entries,Some are tied to the name on the phone and some are tied directly to the mailbox. let us know what type of VM you have (or what type of Aspire system you have)

For example: if a customer calls in they have the option to enter an extension or enter a name to find the person they are looking for. How do I change the name associated with the extension. For example extension 301 was tied to a Beth, it now needs to be Amanda. If people call and enter B E T they then hear "you are being connected to Amanda" But if they call and enter A M A they hear "that name is not found"

How do I update the system to reflect A M A as a recognized name?

Display on phone at extension 301 shows AMANDA

It is a 34B HF/Disp Model is IP1NA-24TXH

Have no idea what type of VM system we are on.

I am the end user, we are a small company and do not have a dedicated IT group to help me with this.

You don't need an IT group for your phones.
A qualified Nec tech will take care of this for less than a fumbling around IT tech who knows nothing of your equip.

Nec tech = 1 hr
It Tech = 3 hr

After its over Jimmy call ABC company to place order, dials ext 104 for Amanda @ 1:00pm, Hears- This is Amanda, please leave a message. Leaves message. Callas back @ 3:00 dials 104, hears "this Billy Bob, Im busy, leave a message", Jimmy hangs up calls back and hears same thing. Says WTF, Hangs up, calls competitor and places order. Calls back after hours and hears "this is Jimmy Don Jumpback, it,s after hours, leave a message." WTF???
Cause the IT guy don,t know jack about VM.

A real tech will reset PW and wipe all greetings and notifications so system will work properly even if new user does nothing. Most companies are unaware of these things for awhile and lose money while it goes on. Just one incident will pay for a relationship with a good phone tech.
How many times we go over a phone bill to quote new service and find 200 to 500 a month in Long distance charges nothing to do with business, why---- Dumb Ass IT "Guru,s" .
Oh you want a cell to ring when you press 2, hell I can work on any system, it,s child's play. Now it,s open season for hackers.

We are in Addison, Texas

We are a copier repair/seller and agree with getting the right person for the job.

I am usually really good at figuring out these types of things but this one just has me stumped.

If I could even just figure out a way to change the Message that the customer hears I would be happy. So instead of them hearing the option to dial by name, just providing them with a list of everyone's name and their extension would be helpful.

Yes, if not too many people, a list is better unless you can have system look for first and last name. I hate to call a place, hit directory and it asks for last name and I only know first or vice versa.
