If I have 10 cameras 3000 ft out and I am feeding the camera with Multimode 62.5 fiber...each of the fiber runs go back to the main building. From there only one fiber is available from the main building to the security office where my DVR is. How do you get 10 fibers into one! Any ideas about fiber switches?

Probably your cheapest bet is to buy a case of fiber media converters... I'm assuming you're connecting to copper Ethernet at the other end.

I'm assuming as 93mdk93 that you're meaning to convert to Ethernet.

Media converters can be problematic as they're more difficult to troubleshoot but the cheapest way to go.

The easiest way to do this is to get a switch that has enough mini-GBIC slots for your runs. This won't be cheap, a quality switch is going to be $5-7K for that many ports.

We have done this on many sites. They keep putting these cameras farther and farther out. We have had the best success with a company called Versitron. Click Here

We have done 16 fiber fed cameras to one multi-mode. I think they may have smaller MUXs.

I'm curious. Do the camera have fiber ports on them or are you converting the ethernet out to fiber at the camera?

I've worked with ethernet cameras before, but never fiber ones. When the camera is to far away, they just like to use WiFi which is not always reliable.

I put fibre optic cameras in at JFK airport. VERY long runs. Worked fine. No adapters fibre all the way.

Interesting, you would think the manufacture of the fiber camera's would have or recommend a way to combine all of the fibers.
