I have a 72e gen 1 main board with two 684 port cards that I installed back in '03 that has been trouble free only until recently. The common LCD quirk out/ lock up...have to unplug phone and replug to reset, and then works fine of course. I am familiar with the short cable loop distance issue, went rounds with ESI tech support 3-4 times quite a few years ago about it the first time I encountered it. It affects stations on both 684PC's. The system has obviously been reset, MB replaced, grounded to ground rod in floor, no new or refurb phones added to the mix. I do not believe this to be a hdd issue, but the link error issue. Just strange that this happened out of the blue. I might add that this isn't a place that uses high frequency welders or anything like that. I added a 100' loop to a couple of the extensions and swapped out a couple of the 4 cond line cords for 2 conductor. Threw some ferrite cores on the amphenols, and swapped the MB1 back. I am wondering if link error issues with one station can overlap/affect others, or only affect that station. Thanks in advance.

Yea, Good Luck with That. Try swapping Polarity on the Cross connect( I Know what ESI says) But, it's just one more trick that Might work.

Have there been any signage changes? I had this issue with a jewelry store. Everything was fine until they changed their sign. It was a weird combination of timers and neon signs. The fix was to put a line filter on the ESI ahead of the power supply but after the UPS. Go figure.

Also, make sure you have the latest software on the Memory module.

Rcaman, I like your thinking...I had that happen to me with a Toshiba DP5000 phone one time that was within a few feet of one. Maybe 10-20' feet from a store front sign like that. This place I'm dealing with has none of that that I am aware of. Combination office/whse in an industrial park. The filter off of the UPS before the 3A PS might be worth a look. This system has been in service since 2002 or 2003 with no known environmental changes. Thx for the replies.
