Greetings -

We mostly deal with Mitel and Avaya systems and need a recommendation for a restaurant application. I put an ACS 7.0 in a restaurant for this owner and we needed to put the Walker handset amplifiers at every phone. This same owner is building a new restaurant and has specifically asked for a different phone system.
Is there a particular system that any of you have found to work well in a noisy restaurant/pizza joint?

Thank you in advance for any recommendations.

Rich

There are two solutions, I think, to the problem. 1. Amplification of the caller's voice and/or 2. Noise cancellation of the ambient noise in the area. You can purchase handsets that do this. Some have "push to talk" keys in the handset and some have "push to mute" keys in the handset. See www.sandman.com/pdf/Page12.pdf for more info. Just include the special handsets with each Partner phone. I don't think there are any systems out there that are "louder" than any others. The handsets are the key. Good luck.

Jwracedog is correct. An amplified handset will just pick up the ambient noise through the transmitter and part of it will be amplified and sent to the receiver. These handsets are fine for people in normal environments who need more volume but will just make the problem worse when there is a high ambient noise level. You need a noise canceling or a push to talk handset to reduce or eliminate the noise when you want to hear.

I agree also that there are no phone systems that are any louder than others or that will work better in this application. Get him a noise canceling or push to talk handset and see how he likes it.

Have to agree with others.

Have put Partner and Norstars in at resturants with same complaint.

Put in the push to talk at the counter where they take phone orders and no complaints.

Good Luck!!

Telrad has released a new feature with e2e-2 and 3015 or above phones. Audio Boost it add 6db to the receive. I beta tested this and now have it a several locations. One of the locatons they leave it on on all the phones all the time as there are 4 out of the 6 people there wear hearing aids. And another of the locations is a gun shop these guys answer the phone with ear plugs in. This feature does take up a button on the phone that is used as on /off.

I find alot of the complaints are background noise being transmitted throught the handset. A push to talk is the only solution I can think of for this.

Amplified NOISE-CANCELLING handsets. Like the old "Confidencer" mouthpieces on 500 sets. Only transmits what is picked up right at the mouthpiece, not the background noise. And then amplifies ONLY the receiver, not the sidetone.

Walker makes these, and can be put on most any brand of phone, including Partners.
