This is my first job outside of fieldnation.com as a data/voice subcontractor where I have provided material and labor to a electrican who needed 20 jacks "10 at patch panel 10 at wall ports". I also had to cut back and trim the cable to proper length for patch panel and label the the cables at both end, patch panels and install a new u4 patch panel bracket and new cisco switch. I also cut over a Panasonic phone from one wall to the other by rejumpering the bridge in the IBDN bix punch down.

I have completed the install last thursday, sent him a invoice for the job and now, he is sayign the person who cuts checks, is on holidays ???.

I orginally send him a BOM and labor with a 15 day term to make payment. I am nervous there was no written agreement what needed to be done and will not pay. If I am not paid, can I legally put a lien on the property if, I warn the resteraunt owner and General contractor of non payment?

Lastly, He asked me if I can install a PA speaker on the wall outside of the offices that will provide a rining sound from the phones and he thinks its a easy job. I told him, that yes, the installation may be easy, but you cannot just run a analog intercom speaker off a digital pbx and expect it to work. The PA amp will need a signal from the pbx and it will need to be analog signal. He said that we should just give him a price and it will work. I asked him does he know what model PBX it is, he said "I am not going out to Aldergrove to see what PBX it is and I am not going to ask them what model it is. It should be a simple install"

I told him, its not that easy!!

Anyway, what about getting paid for the first job. General contractor knows I was there and installed the gear but nothing in writen form other then verbal agreements.

You might have a chance getting paid if you stay on his back but without a signed quote or contract, I think you might be SOL but I've been wrong before.

He said I can now pick up the check at 4 pm. A few hours ago, he said his accountat was on holidays. Yea right. Anyway, was given a address so, going to pick it up.

Anyone have any blank contracts that are enforcable? should I have a attorney look at it for a fee to see if there is any issues?
