How do I create an announce only mailbox in Strata Messaging? Used to use that function in Norstar systems in the CCR tree. Would like to do the same in Strata auto attendant.
Press 1 for blah blah - 1 goes to mailbox 105
mailbox 105 message says press 1 for whatever and 2 for whatever but then beeps and waits for a message Do not want to allow massage to be left
Thanks
George
Thanks

Set the mailbox as a script box type rather than a message box type under mailbox properties. Then under Mailboxes select Scripting and input the mailbox number. Build your script and then record your prompts.

Scripts are great. You can build the entire auto attendant in one script mail box if you wanted to. You can also transfer to extensions that don't have mailboxes or even transfer offsite, which you can't do from the default department greeting.
In your example you don't need to make a script if you want to do it a bit simpler. Create a new class of service and set maximum messages to 0. Set all your announce mailboxes to this new COS.

Thanks newtecky
I am going to stick with scripts simply because I do not have many extra mailboxes and with scripts can use prompts
Actually just found that the original installer had set a separate COS for those mailboxes but left the max number of messages at 100
As far as the main menu issue goes I resolved by setting that line to go to the top of the script rather than choosing Main Menu

How do I get the pbx to go to a different mailbox other than the default admin 100? I change it in DID dialing digits to extension 103 which is my script mailbox but it just rings for a while and then hangs up. 103 has no existing extension so I have tried adding 103 as a pilot DN and also tried mailbox mapping but still no answer If I put in my extension 704 id goes to my mailbox fine
Thanks

When a call goes to the voicemail system it goes to the department greetings. Mailbox 100 does not have anything to do with the main greeting, unless for some reason the previous installer is using mailbox 100..
If you want to use a script file instead of the default department greeting and select your script mailbox under "Start with script"
If you are trying to send a DID to a specific mailbox, just put the voicemail pilot as the destination and enter the mailbox number in the VMID.
Using a pilot worked when I tried it in my office. When I call the pilot, the script ran right away.
