Hello -

When I moved into my house, I found a Mircom intercom system (one of the ones where you push and hold the buttons to talk throughout the house). I never worried about it too much until I looked at it last week and found that the wires connecting to the stations had been clipped, and they led to some sort of punch block in the basement. I knew the system wasn't operational, but is there any special box or control unit needed to get it running again? Or do I just need to connect to a punch block and a power source?

Thanks in advance,

Matteo

Yes there will need to be an amplifier. Do you have a make and model of the stations at a minimum?

Yes, the stations are the Mircom IS-1000.

Sorry, should have included that in original post.

I checked the manual for that station and it appears, as I suspected that you need a Mircom master panel in order for the system to work.

The system is no longer manufactured, thus you cannot get parts for it anymore. However, many other manufacturers do still make these kinds of home intercom systems and likely can run on the wiring you have in your house.
