I installed an SBX this week, 4.0AF s/w. They want to be able to leave a message in someone's Vmail when they are on the phone. When you dial that person's number, you get a busy, display says XXX busy. I thought that at that point, you could push callback, and it would allow you to let a message. When you push call back, you get a generic message to leave a message, but the message never appears on the phone. What you get instead, is a callback the sender when the party hangs-up.

I have the same S/W in my office system, and have tried everything. Got it to play my personal message once or twice, and it worked, but now again all it will do is call me back when I am free.

What am I missing? If the system operator transfers someone to a busy ext, that seems to work fine, goes to VM. No one has ever asked or maybe tried this on any previous systems, or at least I haven't heard that it doesn't work.

The SBX like other systems as well by default treats external calls differently from intercom calls...that is why a transferred call to a busy or NA phone goes to voice mail and an intercom call does not.

To get the system to allow you to leave a message in vm after intercom calling a busy phone you need to set each phone for busy/na fwd to voice mail. There is no preset forwarding for this...it is a user function....set at each phone that wants it. Press speaker fwd 4 then # then hold save. But if the phones are in H mode, the no answer part doesn't really happen with an intercom call.

Thanks Derrick, I did that, but then he didn't like that his display said XXX FWD. Somewhere I found that you should hit Callback when getting the busy, but sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't. Where does that message go that it prompts you to record? You know it went if after you hit #, the display changes to 1 normal, 2 urgent.

Anyway, will advise them.

If the 1 and 2 show up, the message should go into the busy phones mailbox.
