Hello,

We currently have a Samsung Officeserv 7200S with a mix of mainly Digital and some analog devices.
We're looking into adding some VOIP/SIP devices into that mix, but are not really clear on what types of licenses we'd need.

From what I understand now we'll need 1 MGI Channel license per concurrently active channel (VOIP to Analog/Digital/ISDN/...).

We've heard from our OS 7200S reseller that we'll also need additional licenses if we choose to use non-samsung voip phones. What's the name of this license?

If we go to a VOIP/SIP telephony provider instead of our current ISDN provider, we'll also need the MGI licenses I presume. I also assume we will need SIP Trunk licenses. How many of those would we need assuming we would have a SIP trunk with 16 channels.

Hope you guys can help us out. This is all rather confusing (and expensive to be honest).

Thanks in advance.

You are correct about the MGI license. You can have a MAX of 6 of those on your system.

If you need more you will need to install an OAS card which gives you 16 MGI channels (you can have both OAS and MGI licenses)

The SIP license you are looking for is called a Non-samsung SIP extension (or 3rd party sip) license.

You are correct if you goto SIP rather then ISDN you will need MGI (or OAS card(s)) and SIP Trunk licenses.

It is a bit expensive to go from pure TDM (digital/analogue handsets and trunks) to a mix of TDM/VoIP trunks/extensions.

The OAS card will take up a slot in your system, you have 5 slots in total that will have your current trunk and ext cards in them.
