Morning all-
Have an ESI -600 with 2 pri's, getting ready to install a secondary ESI 200 at a new location, will have ESI-link connecting the two- question is, On site B (new site) can I use the ESI-Link for outside dials through the link to the PRI? Meaning, will the customer have to get a couple of pots lines, or can they use the link to primary location and go out the PRIs?
Clear as mud?
Thanks guys

Thanks guys You are asking if site #2 can get a dial tone from site #1 i think? If so that is absolutely a yes. One of my favorites stories goes back a few years. We have a customer who is "frugal" and wouldn't pay to dig up a parking lot or even for high quality wireless to get from his main building to an outbuilding 1,000 feet away. We ended up using cheap consumer grade D Link stuff. When we finished i went off hook in the outbuilding, got to the system via the wireless link, used the internet to grab dial tone from another of their sites using ESI link, called my office and then connected over the internet to my remote phone at home and talked to my 4 year old daughter. I was quite happy the whole thing worked as planned!

That is awesome upstate- Yeah, that is correct, getting dial tone from site 1 at site 2 through the esi-link. Do you just set that up in CO lines, or can you simply program a couple of DSS buttons to grab the line

I would program a remote Cabinet button then grab dial tone that way. You still need trunks or a trunk connected to that system for 911 purposes

I would program a remote Cabinet button then grab dial tone that way. You still need trunks or a trunk connected to that system for 911 purposes exactly .... so if you are at site 701 just program a 700 button. When you hit it you have intercom dial tone and dial 9 or whatever and you have a line. You could also put 700 line 1,2 etc on a button too.

Just make sure you have UIP licenses at both locations. Also, make sure to allocate remote trunks.

They are continually updating the CID stuff for 911. Check the software versions and there may be a field for what you are doing.
