Hi, I have a couple of questions.
My background as an InterConnect is that I have installed many Vodavi Systems since 1990 and then moved into Vertical which mostly has been the SBX 320.
Recently I installed a system for a friend. He had the old DHS with the Vodavi Analog AA/VM. The feature they loved most was call screening. I have NEVER looked at the call screening for the SBX but told him it had call screening - last night I found out it is not the same - ugggh.
My questions are. 1. Correct me if I am wrong - The SBX does not support "call screening" where it asks the user their name - correct?
2. Can I integrate the old BLUE box Vodavi Digital or the OLD GREY Analog AA/VM boxes with SBX 320? If so how..
Thank you all in advance, Bob

The old blue box will not integrate. The SBX voice mail is very simple and it does what it does which ain't much.
The old grey box will integrate but as you know, caller id info will not be stored with the messages. Integration information is in the P&O guide of the SBX. There may be some trial and error involved.

Thanks Derrick, I was down to the Grey box - and just confirmed that the CLID will be lost.
They did not have CLID before so I don' think that will be any issue.
Any idea how hard it would be to integrate? Honestly - It's been a while since I set up a VM system that wasn't out of the box for a phone system and maybe 8 years since I installed one of the old Vodavi boxes. Have a couple on the shelf and I don't know why anymore.
I think the last time I did that I did a 3rd party VM was an Amanda? with a DHS. The VM tech support was great - but back then Tech Support was a job that people took seriously and dealt with each call as a challenge. Today (just got off the phone with you know who) it seems like "if it isn't in my script you are bothering me, did anyone bring donuts this morning?"
I appreciate your input - Thank You, Bob

I think it would be more trouble than it is worth. Perhaps your friend could upgrade to Caller ID and screen his/her calls that way?

I can't say for sure how much trouble it would be to install an analog Dispatch/Talkpath on an SBX. I suspect that it would be more like integrating with an old Triad System than a DHS. The voice mail would need to be reinitialized and the SBX integration tables programmed. Figuring out the pauses needed in the digit strings and such would be the biggest headache I think.

I agree so the question is how much free time do I have to determine the digits, etc, etc.. And then still find out that I have wasted a lot of time.
I think I am going to suggest - use the CLID, decide if you want the call - if not hit DND, then IF you have some interest listen to the call or pick it up from VM later.
Thank You to everyone for you input - YES Dispatch and Talkpath and yes I agree the integration would be more like the Triad.
-With sincere thanks, -bob
