My customer has an older Legend. Every so often, it shuts down. Toggling the power switch on the base power supply module brings it back again. Thinking it was a failing power supply, I replace that. Still having the same problem. I'm going back on Saturday to swap out the power cord. Any ideas are much appreciated!

The error log might yield some clues. Some other thoughts. Some might be valid... Is the system connected to a UPS? Might one of the modules be failing and it is dragging down the power supply? Approaching maximum load for the power supply? Upgrade to a Merlin Magix a possibility?

I've seen a short on the backplane cause exactly that.

Thank you for the ideas, folks. I'll look at all those suggestions. I think I'll try pulling the cards and reseating them all, too.

Why the power cord??? L I would try replacing cards 1at a time. Reseating them won't help, I don't think

Depending upon which model telephones are present, I would lean towards switching over to a Merlin Magix. True, the Magix is also MD'ed, but it is still a workhorse. The other option would be to upgrade to an IP Office.

Legend AND Magix stuff is dirt cheap right now .... an upgrade to Magix circuitry won't cost much at all.

By in large, yup. Avaya Merlin Messaging voicemail systems are still pricey...especially the R4 and larger port count licenses.

Thanks everyone. I'm still working on it... It's connected to a UPS, the phones are mostly MLX 10DP, Have added a couple phones lately, to the expansion cabinet. Power problem is happening on the main chassis, though. Strangely (at least to me), It seems to lose power in the middle of the night for the most part. Customer comes to work in the morning and has to toggle the power mod , then it comes back up.

Hi again, Reviewing the Error Logs: There are no permanent errors. Transient errors are as follows: 000E: Command Buffer Error , multiple times (corresponding to system power out times) on Processor, and 3 extension cards 0016: Power Up Cold Start on slots 5 and 6 (both are 408 GS/LS-MLX cards).
So, I've narrowed the problem down to 2 errors. At this point is it better to put in new cards one by one, or first do the processor? Also, there are 4 backup files on the Memory Card. Is there any way of knowing which file is the most recent backup? Thank you all again.
