Same goes for the dishwasher routine. MAKE SURE the heat dry cycle is off or you will warp the plastics. Trust me, it doesn't take much. I have a Stromberg set wearing cortelco plastics to prove it.

It's amazing what you can do with crap lying around the garage. Automotive rubbing compound, headlight lens restorer and clorox wipes. Note to anyone thinking of using this stuff: Rubbing compound on its own is too abrasive and leaves the plastic hazy. I will get out a lot of scratches and dings, but...... the headlight restorer is nearly perfect to bring the shine right back. I even used it on the clear plastic overlay and the finger wheel. Both were cloudy and hazed over. Now they are clear as window glass.

I couldn't think of any better thread to put this in and I didn't think it warranted it's own... If anyone has one of these Northern Electric 18 button call directors, I had a print shop make me up a pile of the overlay cards, I guess you would call them. It's the card with the dial hole, lettering around the dial and the 36 holes for the line keys and numbers. If anyone needs one, shoot me a PM. I also can get the acrylic overlay made, but I would need some lead time on those. I had a couple made because I broke one around the dial hole, and since they did such an awesome job making a new one, I thought I'd mention it here and see if there's any need for some. I won't discuss prices in the open forum, but the cards are really inexpensive, and I have them with both the newer NE logo on the right, like pictured above, and with the older one with the "NE" in a sort of square thing, centered. I'll post pictures soon. The acrylic piece, isn't bad, price wise, but keep in mind, I'll have to order them and ship them. It takes the shop usually 3-4 days to make them. Any questions or requests, shoot me a PM. (If I had a pattern to go by, I could have them make the pieces for a 30 button call director, but I don't.) If someone wants one for a 30 button set, I would need the insert card, or a really good photocopy. What I did, was place the card on a copier with a black sheet behind it, so the holes stood out prominently, then took that to the shop. From that they made the cards and the acrylic overlay, omitting the extra holes over where the line numbers are typed.
