Derrick gave a pretty good summary of the Summit in a previous post (Thank you!)

I have an install coming up at the end of April in which I was going to propose an SBX that included a PRI and 16 phones (PRI is actually cheaper for their needs with conferencing and the move from DID on a legacy system)
I have been toying with the idea of proposing a Summit over the SBX after looking at some of the feature and documentation posted on V-Connect. (Not carrying any legacy phone devices forward for this one)

I understand from previous post that there is approximately a 15% premium to go with the Summit
Also get the fact that you need to choose your cabinet wisely regarding PRI=KSUID

So my question to the forum is for those that have installed the Summit

Do you prefer the Summit over the SBX? If so why?
(Leaving the U.C. features out of the mix)

Is programming easier and more intuitive? Remote access works without fail?

Do you plan on dumping the SBX line and just going with the Summit?
(I get maybe you might need a down and dirty cheap instance once in a while A.K.A -SBX)

If I could get certified beforehand and the customer is willing to accept the 15% premium is there a good chance for success? (I understand it’s a rather broad question)

Thanks in advance for any consideration
Jon

With a PRI...a Summit for sure. Call forwarding options, ringing assignments, voice mail etc, all more flexible with the Summit. Remote programming is easier, options are logically grouped and no software other than an up to date browser required.

I don't plan on dumping the SBX. There are retail and soho applications, among others, where the lower end SBX still fits the bill.

I think you will find the Summit a good system to work with, with few of the frustrations that the SBX offered when compared to say the STS or XTS. The Summit is actually becomming an improvement over all of them (I look forward to the large port one sometime in the near future).

The Summit is way better than the SBX. You might as well get use to the Summit, because the SBX is sure to go by the wayside just like the STS did.

The Summit is much easier to use, and much easier to sell. Think about this...you're on a sales call and you tell the prospect that they can get their messages emailed to them. You pull out your smart-phone, and play a message for them. That closes the sale for a LOT of people.

BTW, we don't actually sell the Summit, but the Ericsson/LG eMG-80. Why don't you? Why sell Vertical? They're competing with their dealers.

Vertical competes with their dealers with the Wave but not the Summit, not yet anyway. They are buying out a number of Wave dealers in various markets.

With the merger/purchase of Fulton, they're competing directly with their dealers. To me, it doesn't really matter what the product is.

Did you know that the largest Vertical dealer distributor in the country is now selling more E-LG product than Vertical product?

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Is this Vertical dealer also owned by Vertical?

I did not know that Fulton was selling LG branded equipment.

Sounds like another Avaya situation. Can't decide whether to be channel or direct.

Thanks for feedback regarding the comparison.

Any cheat sheets or guidance that you can provide regarding a PRI and DID setup on the Summit?

I am a bit concerned in a previous post where someone was asking about CO Presets on the Summit and they could not find it in the manual. You mentioned: Looking up CO Presets in MBX manual as they were similar.
Fortunate/Unfortunate that I have never done an MBX

Obviously I still need to do the certification first, but I don't want to be digging for PRI and DID setup outside a Summit manual.

Any guidance here?
Thanks

Dragonfly,

I have the cheat sheets for preset forwarding and PRI setup that were provided to me when I attended certification class.

I have not looked to see if they are on V-connect. If so they are there only after the person logging on is certified.

I can tell you the sheets are good and so is the powerpoint training pages I have as well. You will not have to dig much to get the info you need even if the manual is missing a few things.
