I got a call from a company that wanted me to move a few lines. The original installation company folded their tent a couple years ago so they asked for help with the system as well. I'm mostly Avaya and Panasonic and I've done a lot of the older Toshibas but very few past the DK.

They have a CTX28 and want to change their main greeting and sub menus. I believe it has an internal statagy VM. I can get into 999 but can't find where the greetings are?

Also will emanager work on this or can I do everything from the phones? They have a private line on only 2 sets that they want on all phones now.

Thank you for your help.

The main greeting is not stored in mailbox 999. The main greeting is in 2 parts in mailboxes 990 and 991.

The bad news is that if they have sub menus, then there is no easy way to tell what mailbox is being used for the sub menus. The installer could have created any voice mail box number that they felt like creating.

Without connecting to the voice mail system with a special serial adapter and the Voice mail software, you could have a bit of trouble figuring this out. If you worked on older Toshiba systems, you may have seen those PPTC-9 DB9 to 6 pin modular adapters.

Emanager will work to manage this phone system if there is an Ethernet adapter installed on the processor. This was an optional card for this system. There is a way to "dial up" into the system using the 1 analog port and a PC with a modem, but this will be a bit tricky to set it up. You can program everything from a phone, like I did on my first CTX-28 install, but you will need a manual and a lot of patience.

THANK YOU you for the information.
990 and 991 sounds a lot like a CTL style VM. At least I have a start point.

I wish when companies abandon clients like this that they would provide the pertinent documentation before going belly up.

I probably still have A db9 adapter somewhere or could make one with the pinouts.

I haven't had any luck finding how to assign line keys via the phone in the books I have but it is probably there somewhere. Like you said PATIENCE!

I'll look for the optional ethernet adapter but it very difficult to get to the KSU. Can you give me a clue where it should be located?

The Computer guys, who are apparently the only workers in the universe decided to mount their relay rack (with no hinges) directly OVER the KSU completely covering it. The only way to even touch it is by reaching between their patch panels. I guess I should feel lucky that they at least removed the cover because it was too close to their switches to screw it to the wall
{and I DO mean SCREW WTF ).

Behind the cover, the processor is in the top half. On the processor will be a small card attached to the processor with a RJ45 and a short green ground cable attached. It will be the only RJ-45 plug in the system, and it will

I know the pinouts of the PPTC-9 has been discussed on this board, so a search my help you out. You will need a 6-wire modular line cord. A standard 4 conductor phone cord won't work.

Toshiba did have a manual specifically for telephone programming in PDF form. I don't know if they had a printed version.

The voicemail system is behind the processor and has 1 RJ-12 plug. That one may be a little harder to reach.

All the plugs on the lower half of the cabinet are line plugs.

If this was one of my customer's I would end up leaving a cat 5 and line cord plugged in.

OK. I got the emanager to load on my xp pro box. It requested Java which loaded but cried about xp. I wanted to try it on an old customer before I went to the new guys. This is one that I used to be able to get on with my laptop that was stolen and had all my programs on.

emanager loads and I can ping the address of the KSU fine. After I get through the password it does not recognize this CTX 100 on the list. If I try to open profiles to add it the menu just stops. It won't even let me logout or anything else.

Any ideas?

Get into programming on a telephone and check the IP address of the processor sounds like it isn't default addressed.

It had been changed from the default, but I got 192.168.0.173 from the 619 prog. I static addressed my laptop first to get in the right subnet. That's how I knew I could ping it.

I am not sure which version you have bu I think even the oldest version of eManager should run OK on XP. It loads up a lot of stuff, but I don't remember it using Java.

You will need to add the equipment to eManager so it can connect to the PBX. The equipment is not auto discovered. You will need to know the IP address and the community name. Except for the rare occasions, the community name is probably still default. Ask for a private message if you don't know it.

It sounds like you can navigate the phone programing enough to get the IP address from PRG 916. Another useful program is 200, which you can use the get the equipment number of extensions if they are out of order. Getting eManager working will save you a lot of time.
