Hi All,,

I am finally getting back into my telephone hobby after a few years absence. Had to take in the grandkids, and mother in law, so I had been quite busy. Now I have a bit of time for myself, and have returned to the great hobby of playing phones.

My current project is restoring a Northern Electric Call Director. It is a green 18 button set. Got the shell all polished up, and the dial is out for repair and adjustment.

I am also getting back into working on my old 555 cordboard, and am about 70 percent finished with it. I am looking for an NL relay, cap and bracket as well as the connection diagram showing how to connect it to the wiring harness. Also need a few lamp and jack strips.

My goal for the rest of this year is to finish the cordboard, and start to work on a large rack mount 1A2 system. My far term goal is to get Lasik surgery so I can see without specs', and to try to locate an old PBX of the 755 variety. I am also collecting the ironwork and parts for a CDO that if I am very lucky, will be able to finish in my lifetime.

It is good to be back among phone people again. My old handle on this forum was Teletypejoe, but I no longer have that e-mail address and long ago forgot my password. Thus, with new e-mail (via satellite provider as I am in the middle of nowhere), I am here as Rokumoncat. That is the same Rokumoncat that is on the Classic Rotary Phone Forum.

Thank you all again! Please e-mail any time. ([email protected])

Best,

Joe

Hi Jeff,

Yes, all is well. When my wife and I had her parents move in with us, her dad was seriously ill. We remodeled the lower level into an apartment for them, complete with walk in shower. The VA helped with the expenses as he was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He passed early last year, and the grandkids are growing up to the age and emotional health where they do not take 150% of our time.

So with all of that, I am back! smile And I am starting to hear that wonderful sound of old electromechanical bells and Teletypes again!

Best,

Joe

Joe: If you really want that "wonderful sound of old electromechanical bells" maybe a 20 Hz ring generator will be more your speed. The bells seem just that little bit less urgent that way. :-)

Thank you all for the welcome back! MPhil: I have a 20 Hz ring generator on my shoebox KSU for my 1A2 system. I need to find a much bigger one for a CO that I hope (someday) to build. Right now, for my 555 cord-board that is being restored, I will use a small 1A2 power plant for the ring generator.

Best,

Joe
