We currently have a working IDCS 100 system but since its started to become more flaky of late we purchase a backup one from ebay.
I'm trying to insert our backup MCP1 card and reprogram it but the passcode seems to have been changed. I've tried a few things but cant get it to reset this password back to the default one.
Can anyone help with this please?
Cheers

First thing I would look at on a flaky 100 is the power supply as this is a known issue. To default the MCP1 card you should be able to turn off the memory backup switch on it and let it sit for a few minutes to drain the voltage.Just remember to set the switch back to on if you want to use it.

Thanks for replying I have tried turning that switch to the off position and left it for an hour and then tried it again without any luck. I've tried shorting the cap out too when its off but that hasnt helped either. For some reason it also has kept its old station names too so it obviously hasnt reset to defaults. Any idea how to override such behaviour?

I definitely wouldn't directly short out the super cap,but tie the positive side of the cap to ground through a resistor say 100 ohms or so.There is no reason if you did that that it shouldn't default as there shouldn't be any voltage left.

Well I've tried that too but I cant get this thing to reset it settings. I really only need to reset the tech code on this card so I can change the IP and load our existing database to it.
Any further ideas? Can I use the serial port to override/manually load a boot file?

The later version idcs100 R2 (This is known as an Officeserv 100 in Australia) software auto restores the programming from the flash backup, this is why the memory switch way of defaulting isn't working.
You're going to have to get a dealer out to reset the tech password on your backup mcp1 card. Alternatively you could ask the seller on ebay if they know what the password is. Or you could try all the combinations until you find it.
I also suggest checking the 2 caps on the PSU you can see near where the cable to/from the mainboard goes to and see if they are starting to dome, if they are that will be the source of your issues.

Wow thats interesting. So there is the active memory backed up by the supercap and a backup flash memory which retains settings long term when the active memory fails? What chip is the backup one and is there anyway to erase that? I've asked the seller but he doesnt know. How does a dealer reset one of these cards?

Also any pointers to find out a 'back door' to reset this? Anyone can PM me an IRC channel with info or something like that?

Nevermind I found the answer elsewhere. Thanks TeddyB After using backdoor code I can update system software & upload backup. No point contacting Dealer as this is such an old system it'd be cheaper to bin it and buy another second hand one off ebay that did have the tech code...

I followed the upgrade procedure from 2.66 to 2.76b. I removed the old files and uploaded the new ones. However after uploading the new files and rebooting the system doesnt come back up. How long is it supposed to take to come up again?
