Stations without mailboxes cannot receive incoming calls from outside.

We have a number of meeting rooms which were not supposed to allow messages to be recorded, but did. The previous tech just deleted those mailboxes, and we've just discovered that those meeting rooms can no longer receive incoming calls from outside. Re-creating the deleted mailboxes resolves the incoming call issue.

Is there a way to allow incoming calls from outside without a mailbox existing? If not, how do I configure a mailbox on a CIX670 through eManager to just drop the call after it rings too many times, and not prompt the user to record a message?

My best guess is that I need to uncheck the "Store messages" checkbox in the mailbox's User Mode tab, but I thought I'd ask people who actually know the answer.

Thanks!

When I uncheck that option and a caller hits the max number of rings (internal or external), they are sent to the MB 990 auto attendant greeting.

Is it possible to have external calls return to the greeting, but internal extension-to-extension calls just stop ringing and hang up?

Thanks for your help!

You would have to remove the System call forward template for the extension or create a new one to forward only external calls.

Changing the CF template is half the issue, make sure that the VM is using 'blind' transfer as well, so you don't get a recall to the VM.
