I need some advice, as an IT manager struggling with telecom equipment.

I am trying to replace a blown DCS Compact 2 with an Officeserv 500.

The line is a 2 channel ISDN2e box from BT.

This is to feed 24 analogue phones, each with its own outside number (I assume this is where DDI comes in)

Inside the OS500 is a BRIN, 3x8SLI and an MCP2.

When I go to the MMC for BRI mode, there is nothing to there to choose.

Inside card configuration Slot 1 is showing "4 BRI", under device type it is showing PRI Trunk, is that correct?

As far as I know, ISDN2e only works with BRI and not PRI....I do have a TEPRI card lying around if needed.

Am I missing something hardware wise?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

The BRI card should show BRI Trk.

A BRIN card is the correct card, it will show as 4bri in the system.

Sounds like you need to pre-install the card so the system updates its config.

Then you should be able to setup the card in DDI mode and then configure the indials.

Thanks for the response.

Pre-install the card?

The only steps I have taken so far is to insert the card and power on the OS500,
I got the IP from Wireshark and configured network settings to match the LAN subnet it is connected to.

I then updated the software to 2.76a

The only info I could find from manuals and a thorough Google search was to go to the S/T MMC to begin with, but that was blank, nothing to add.

Do you have Samsung OfficeServ Manager configuration software? There in MMC 806 you can define which card is currently in slot. Probably your system still thinks PRI card is inserted in this slot.

There is also a possibility to program this change over Samsung digital phone, but apparently you only have SLT phones on the system.

I was wondering why it showed 30 (give or take, there was quite a few) PRI trunks

In officeserv manager though, it shows as 4BRI, which is correct.

I did have the TEPRI card in there before i realised I needed the BRIN, I have a DLI card and a phone to go with it.

How would I clear the memory?

Thank you for your help.

Its a shame your replacing it with the 500 its been discontinued a long while in the UK. In the long run a officeserv 7200 with a MP20s would give you more options for the future.

You should default the kit and start from scratch, just clear the RAM in one of the MMCs (I dont think were allowed to post MMCs on here?) and once the kit has rebooted set the country code and reboot again. The light on the BT IDSN2 NTE should stop flashing if you've wired it correctly.

Then set trunk groups, ddis etc.

That's done the trick, fantastic!

Thank you very much.

I had suggested the 7200, but with the company being a charity they have a very limited budget, and I had the 500 lying around from a previous job (was cheaper buying a full unit with the card I needed than buying the card separate, go figure).

Now to see how well I can program the DDI numbers.

Think I spoke too soon.

The light keeps flashing green on the ISDN2e box.

DIP switches inside BRI card set to trunk (all off).

Made sure it is set to trunk in the S/T MMC

DDI numbers set up in translation.

Country set to UK

I have definitely wired the cable correctly.

On a plus note, all 24 phones now have a dial tone from the SLI's!
