My step-son and his bride are opening a shop in Cary, NC. I have been advising him, remotely, on POS systems, alarms, phones, etc. I would like to hear from a fellow telephone man in the area, not so much to do any hard work, but perhaps a person on whom the kid could call upon for advice in an urgent situation. Since most telephone men are cut from the same honest and reliable mold, I am reaching out to our fraternity of guys just in case he may need some assistance in the future. Is anyone here near to Cary?

Googlemaps puts it west of Raleigh NC, inside the "Triangle".

He should do very well there. Research Triangle Park is a technology/business district that is surrounded by Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Cary is in the hotbed of it all. I grew up in Raleigh (well, technically I haven't grown up) and my mother still lives there. It is a very busy area and business-friendly.

I presently live in Cary and have worked on NEC systems since 1982. Not so much the Nitsuko line, but the SV series and those that preceded them. There are two NEC dealers in the area. I worked for both and neither one does the Nitsuko line. One does smaller NEC systems and would be your competitor. The area is big on Cisco since Cisco has 12 buildings in RTP. There are many small offices mostly medical facilities that use smaller less expensive systems. With an aggressive sales force he could do well. Post here if you need assistance. I can be available.
