Good Morning
I haven't worked on NEC in maybe 10 years. There are very few in my service area.

I have read through the Inmail and IPKII manuals and failed to find the answers I need.

I have been asked to clear out mailboxes on an NEC IPK 2 Elite with what I believe to be th Inmail VM system

Is there an easy way to do this?

My specific questions are:

How do you reset the mail box password for a mailbox?

Is there a system default password for the mailbox or is it just auto login ?

I see that we can set the mailboxes to auto erase voice mails based on age - If I set this feature on mailboxes will it automatically erase all older voicemails for me?

Any help would be appreciated
Thank You
Bob

First of all you need to confirm if the system has InMail by removing the front cover, inspect the CPU for the InMail flash card.

If not the system would have the Elite Mail which admin functions are different.

Agree with DAN S.

Mailboxes on the InMail system can only be "reset" from the administrator mailbox. You get the option to delete messages, reset the password, and delete the greeting. You cannot do any of those things from the IPKII web GUI.

You can define who has Admin access from the web GUI however.

Thank You, I am fairly sure it's a flash mail system

I will look at the INMAIL admin guide again for the administration.

I am willing to pay for remote support if anyone is interested.

You can PM me if you like (I am assuming the board supports PM) or if someone has the steps down (cheat sheet or pages) I am more than happy to pay for that too.

Thank You
bob

Update:The mail was flash in the system
I could not log into the administrator box because nobody knew the password.
One mailbox they had the password for so I gave it System Administration Administrator 47-02-12 (I don't remember)
Then I was able to clear the password on mailboxes

BUT the only think I could do at each station was delete the messages one at a time - I could not figure out how to clear them all at once- the process was press the #2 several times so it would not archive - so I guess I am unsure which VM the system has. If anyone can comment on this I would appreciate it. Bob

The system is the InMail.

I know in the SV8100 InMails the system admin can delete all message to a subscriber mail box.

Log into admin mailbox press the prompt for subscriber maintenance,
enter the subscriber number, you will get the prompt to delete all messages for this subscriber.

This should work on the IPK II InMail but not 100 percent sure.

Thank you. I will check again when I return in a few weeks. I suspect that I will have to learn (re-learn) how to provide service for this system since they have no one else. I use to work on NEC for about 2 or so years but it was not my bread and butter.

I have known the manager (now a friend) for years from a previous business so I don't mind doing this for them - but the older I get it seems like the more I have forgotten as time goes on smile

I appreciate those who contributed - Bob
