We have an Inter-Tel 5000 system with 8660 handsets.
In our IC directory, we can see a bunch of system applications (e.g. phantom extensions, dump to mbx, etc).
However, we really only want to see current extensions.
Is there any way to hide certain elements from the IC directory?

Thanks for your reply! I tried this, but the entries still appear in the IC directory.
They have an Asterisk (*) in the first position of the description in IC directory now, even though it's a tilde ~ in the first position of the description in DB Studio.
Do I need to do something else?

Create Extension IDs. Set Unlisted number and Private extension to Yes. I would also set Auto Attendant Transfer Prompt to No.

Any further suggestions out there about doing this? My company's IC Directory is also filled up with our Applications, and it makes the IC directory unbrowsable.
