when they have a UPS driver at the back door, he could enter a code on a KEYPAD reader? I do not think that a ESI 50L supports
a keypad reader? only their reader with a FOB or card.

you could put a door box on it and connect the relay

He hits the call button and someone answers and lets him in

The normal method of controlling a door is to use a reader. The reader has a call button and the person answering the call can also release the door.

If this is something that is occurring when no one is there to answer the call, then you could install a keypad and wire the contacts in parallel with the ESI reader's relay contacts. It doesn't matter to the door strike where it gets it's voltage.

OR: If the door is controlled by an electric strike..You " could "
use a FOB , they can be programmed to allow only certain times to swipe in front of the reader to Open the door...*( there are other options as well)

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

I had "assumed" the door was controlled by a door strike, which is really not in evidence with the OP's post. Brian is right on the money. Using a FOB with a reader is the preferred ESI method of providing access which can be regulated by schedules.
