CS-200, 684, IVC12R12EL, CS-ASC. 14.5.55.30
Went to this place for the third time in 8 months yesterday. The first time there was terrible feedback on all 5 COs. Like the mic gain was cranked up way too high. You can really hear yourself and all background noise through the earpiece. On speaker it just sounds horrible. Ext to Ext OK, and the party on the other end doesn't notice a thing. Checked the COs (TWC Digital phone Arris TM608 MTA), all COs good. Power cycled the system, problem went away.
Six months later, same problem, but only on CO 2. Power cycled again. Issue gone.
Yesterday, same problem CO 1. Contacted ESI, who tried to blame the COs at first, but then made some "adjustments" and had me power cycle again. Of course the problem is gone after the power cycle.
I'm thinking of replacing the 684 the next time it happens. What do you all think?

Let ESI continue to tweak the system. It's actually due to the "improved" .30 software. That same system, with the older .5 software would have none of the squealing issues, however, it would have low volume issues which can't be tweaked out.

Yeah, but I hate relying on them. It's going to be another 3 months probably before it acts up again, and if the guy I talked to this time doesn't remember what he did or didn't note the ticket properly, it will be like starting from square one. Stupid software revisions.....

The ESI techs are pretty good at making accurate notations when they get into a system.
In my experience, it only takes one, maybe two tries to get the squealing problem resolved. When they adjust the gain, it's being adjusted globally and affects all the trunks.
You should have received an email regarding your call to ESI tech support which would reference a ticket number. If you didn't get an email, call ESI and request one. Then, if you do have issues in the future, you will have a ticket number to reference.

Before power cycle next time move the troubled line to another CO port and see if it follows. And move a not troubled line to trouble port. If problem stays on CO port on system Card Issue.

The original post indicated the exact same problem presented on all 5 CO trunks, initially. But, you make a valid point, depending on the age of the system and the rev level of the system modules, the module may need to be upgraded.
