I have been working on older Adix systems (7.32) the use the Windows 3.2.9 and version 4 and 5 programmers. But I am having trouble getting the comm working thru the 9-pin serial port. Other techs say the problem is the laptop computers we use are dual-core and they prevent the older programmers from running properly.
The programmers seem to run with no errors on Windows 7, but they will not connect to any older systems. Any ideas?

The 3.2.9 programmer will only work back to software version 6.0. Anything before that requires the dreaded version-specific DOS programmer.
I have a dual core Windows 7 laptop that runs all the programmers just fine. Some of the DOS programmers required a little tweaking, but still work fine as well.
Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

I had to right click on the installer and select Troubleshoot compatibility to get Windows 7 to install a very old Iwatsu programmer.
Also, I use a DB9 to RJ45 adapter I built after I found the pinout.
