We upgraded our XTS-IP from a flash VM card to a Pathfinder IS HDD VM card. Since then, the MWI on all the extensions is not turning on when there is a message for that ext.

The original VM card used 8 virtual ports (172-179)
When the Pathfinder installed, the system allocated the additional 4 virtual ports (180-183), which renumbered the physical ports 180 and above by 4.

We are using a “BASIC” Class of Service Setting
9.1 Message waiting 3. On every message
9.2 MWI Set sequence
9.3 MWI Clear sequence
9.4 Event handler group 5

Is there supposed to be something in the MWI Set and Clear sequences? They are currently blank.

(FYI: I am just an IT guy helping our phone tech who has a lot of Vodavi experience)

Additional information:
I reviewed the Daily Log report and found multiple occurances of the following error:
C 08:32:57.249 13 H!MSGMAN SetUp Error: MWI Mailbox<325>; COS:.
C 08:32:57.259 13 H!MSGMAN SetUp Error: MWI group <5> no lines assigned to it.
C 08:32:57.269 13 H!MSGMAN SetUp Error: Edit MAINT-Config-System-General Settings-Notification Lines.

So I looked at the System Lines configuration page and Event Group (2.2, 3.2, etc.) are all blank.
It appears I should have a 5 in all 12 lines.

Can anyone confirm that is what I need to do?

You have to add the four additional extensions into the VM group the flash vm extensions were in...usually group 440. This is an XTS admin programming change. The last port on the IS is what turns lights on and off but it cannot do that if the extension is not in the VM group.

Derrick, thanks for the reply.
I am pretty sure my tech guy did that. He was aware of the 4 additional ports, but I will pass this on to him. Do you have any insight regarding my questions the Event Group setting in the System Lines and the MWI Set/Clear strings?

Don't make any changes to the event group handler settings. Just add the four additional station ports to voice mail group 440 in the XTS and Derrick mentioned and that should be all that is needed.

My phone tech confirmed that he had configured all 12 lines (172-183) in the 440 VM group, and double checked to make sure that was still the case.

All 12 ports are in the VM group. So what would be my next step?
What am I to make of the errors I am seeing in the Activity Log:
C 08:32:57.259 13 H!MSGMAN SetUp Error: MWI group <5> no lines assigned to it.

You need to access the maintenace program/system lines menu option on the IS and assign event handler group five to the last two ports/lines of the voice mail.

Derrick, assigning Event Handler Group 5 to System Lines 11 and 12 did the trick. Thanks very much for your help!
