Ok, I am a network tech that gets to trouble shoot the physical problems with the PBX. So I am still learning.

I know a lot more now after reading this forum then I did 2 weeks ago. Very nice resource. And it's wonderful how pleasant people are with each other.

I know that voice mail in the Inter-Tel world is a proprietary PC connect to the 3rd RS-232 jack and the PCM port on the CPU card.

I have seen pics the Axxessory Talk PC and to me, it looks like an old AT Motherboard that hasn't been in production for 15 years. This board looks like MicroATX. So, Can this thing be used in place of the Axxessory Talk PC?

If so can there be two voice mail machines a two node PBX, networked with IPRC?
Using one for voice applications and one for voicemail?

That is part of an EVMC, embedded voicemail card. It is missing the hard drive, and the bracket/front that goes into the Axxess cabinet.
Who knows if that even works...EVMC's are not bad, they come with 64 mailboxes and are limited to 200 mailboxes if I remember right.
What software version is your Axxess? The EVMC came out somewhere around the 5.0-6.0 timeframe.

Seems like it would be a good "starter" voicemail solution.

How do they expand from 64 to 200 mailboxes? Licensing chips?

Also, is it possible to have 2 Voice mail machines? One on each node?

We have 2 nodes linked with IPRC. The calls come in on a few T1s at the Vendor's Co-Lo. Where the existing voicemail system is, also where the voice applications reside.

Could getting this or an Axxessory Talk PC and installing it locally for on-site mail boxes help save some internet through-put for call quality/reliability? Or should we not even bother?

I must say, that moving this office to a bonded t1 for VOIP/Data has defiantly increased call quality/reliability.

Well, you need the hard drive and the proper voicemail software from Inter-Tel. The mailbox upgrade is either a PAL chip, or a license in later versions (I think)
Axxessory Talk is the older OS/2 and NT based voicemail. There are tons of them still out there.
As far as networking and voicemail goes, they have several servers available, Enterprise Messaging comes to mind. I think in most cases, the voicemail is at the 'main' node, not sure if you could have them on both sides.
I would recommend contacting an Inter-Tel dealer in your area, because that's really the only way to get the software and licensing.

Yes you can distribute the voice mail servers. Only one can be connected per node.
