Today I worked on an Iwatsu system that I didn't even hear about until today, the Omega-924! The power supply was bad and replaced yesterday. Today I went to the site to reconfigure ringing, auto line select and some other features. It seems the system may have been defaulted. I wonder is that normal after a power failure?

A default after a power failure is not normal. (Probably not normal for any system...) The Omega 924 is a re-branded Tecom/ XBlue system. We sold a handful of them a few years ago. Shouldn't have gone to default in any case.

Didn't think so - maybe they had a power hit initially? After the power supply was replaced Thursday it was placed on top of the cabinet - then yesterday morning it fell off, disconnected and the system went down again. Although it's probably not an option - I'll read the tech manual at some point to see if there's any way to backup the config.

Never heard of Tecom / Xblue. Seems like a decent system for a small office. We've got 5 or so out there. One thing that took a while was one phone could not access Line 4, would return 'Key Unavailable' Tried setting line access to that trunk from Y to N back to Y etc.. no luck. Finally tried Feat.#3 I think it was - to set the key from an 'Available Key' to 'Line', number 4.

There was at one time a pc program for configuring this system, but it was a little clunky and required an optional interface card. I don't remember clearly, but I do believe a data base back up was possible. This is a pretty inexpensive system, so the thing about getting what you pay for is certainly in effect.

I believe I saw a system with the option interface card for pc admin. It was an option card that provided 2 station ports, one could be a door phone. It had a 9 pin serial connector on it. The option board was bad and replaced. Not knowing what was wrong before going on site - and assuming it was a power supply I looked for what we had back at the shop. The Omega 924 uses a 30v 4 amp power supply I believe, not so common. I found an old HP laptop (I think) power supply that output 32v and something like .975 amps. Was very surprised to see it ran our spare system with 2 phones (of course had to change the connector). Probably a few more phones would be too much, or maybe over time it would fail. Kept it aside just in case. Fortunately we were able to purchase a few spares.

I'm never worked on small systems like this until recently, but I'm impressed with the capabilities of the system. It has several features that large PBXs capable of hundreds or even thousands of lines just didn't have. I heard it never really took off, seems like a great small system.

It's a re-branded X-Blue/TECOM system. 3 by 8 out of the box, with optional cards for expansion and voice mail. Not a bad system, lottsa bang for your buck, but not too hardy IMHO.

Yes, it's the same as X-Blue's 45P system.

We sold a few X45 years back. When XBlue stopped with them we stopped.

Still support 2 of them.

Not a bad low end system.

Never did a X100

Yea I've seen a couple of the 'not too hardy' situations recently. I see we now have a couple power supplies in the warehouse. At least it seems some parts are still available.
