I have a small branch office in which we have installed an Axxess system (v. 8.0 software, CPC64, 2x LSC w/ daughters, 2x DKSC16+, EVMC, OPC). I have 14 total incoming lines, all POTS to the LSC's. There are 8 "private" lines that ring at workers' desks. I have these set up so that a single trunk (for their POTS line) is assigned to a CO Trunk Group for each worker, then that Trunk Group assigned to ring-in at the worker's desk. The worker's station is then assigned the same Trunk Group as an outgoing extension. For our receptionist, we have 3 POTS lines set up in a hunt group by our telco. Those lines come into the same Trunk Group and ring at our receptionist station.
I am having 2 problems with the setup, and am looking for some advice on how to correct them, or perhaps a better way to set up this system (I am used to using T1 PRI's and call routing tables, so this is new to me!)
The first problem occurs when a private line (one of the Trunk Groups assigned to a worker desk) is on hook. If someone calls worked one on his assigned number and he is on the phone, and someone else calls his number, it will obviously ring busy. Is there some solution that would work with the telco setting up some sort of hunt group to some unused POTS lines we have? If that is the case, how would I route those POTS lines to the appropriate voicemail?
Secondly, if worked one receives a phone call on his line, then transfers that call to worker two, worker one cannot place a call (or receive another call) until worker two hangs up.
Again, I am used to working with T1's and call routing tables, so I have never had experience with "routing" POTS lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you!
