Hello,

Please excuse my ignorance, this isn't exactly my expertise. We installed an Iwatsu Adix vs several years ago in our small church. It has been rock solid and a wonderful little system. I was able to run the cabling to the phones pretty easily but when it comes to the programming, I'm lost. I do have some telecom folks at work, but they are not familiar with the brand (they are Avaya folks you should have seen their faces when I said Iwatsu, lol) Anyway, I'm wanting to add an analog polycom to the SLT port. We have two trunk cards but really are only using one with two separate phone lines connected. When connecting the analog phone, it works in terms of dialing from extension to extension, however, I need to be able to dial out and get dial tone to dial out. Coworker thinks it's just a programming change. Any suggestions? I will say this was programmed by someone else and I have no idea where the software is, so is this something I can do via the rs232 cable and not need the programming software? Again, sorry if this seems so basic.

The ADIX-VS usually had a 'dial 9' default as far as the outgoing groups go. Programming may be needed to remove uninstalled lines from the group. Each line port also had a default access code, 101 for line 1, 102 for line 2 and so on. Unless the installer turned all those codes off, you should be able to access an outgoing line using one of those codes.

You can program the system through the attendant station. Get a copy of the tech manual and bring a lunch, though. Get your Avaya buddies to help you out. The language is actually kind of similar between the two systems-I work on both on a daily basis.

If you do start programming through the keyset, be aware that analog POTS lines are numbered as CO 10, CO 11, CO 12 and so on. CO 1, 2 ,3 etc were used for BRI trunks, so ignore anything you see concerning CO1 through CO 9

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

That Iwatsu VS is a nice little system. We just reclaimed 2 - one customer shut down, another went to a hosted system fortunately installed by us. I recently added a 2 cordless phones to the 2 analog ports on a VS. As JBean said the codes 101, 102 etc, can access the individual CO lines - as well as take them off hold. The analog lines can transfer the standard way, preceding the target ext. with a hookflash. When first starting to work on them the COs 10, 11 etc. threw me as JBean mentioned. The small Siemens system also accommodated BRIs.

I wish we also sold Avayas.

Brings back memories. One of the first jobs I helped on was installing an Adix VS!
