Here is my long awaited photos of my 501 KSU setup.

The way I have my 1A2 501 KSU system setup is behind a Merlin Magix PBX, any time you select lines 1, 2 and 3 you will get a outside line.

Lines 1 and 2 are the two lines from my VOIP adapter and line 3 is connected to my cell phone via blue tooth gateway adapter.

Line 4 is the intercom line on the Merlin Magix PBX, so you can dial any ext on the Merlin Magix system.

Line 5 on the 1A2 key system is the internal intercom.

I have a device that taps into the 1A2 key system’s intercom line from line 4 on the Merlin Magix PBX. You can transfer lines 1 to 2 from the 1A2 key system to any ext on the Merlin Magix PBX by flash hook and then dial the ext.

1a2 key system lines.
Line 1 - ext 31 accesses outside line 1
Line 2 - ext 32 accesses outside line 2
Line 3 - ext 33 accesses outside line 3
Line 4 - ext 34 accesses Merlin Magix’s intercom line
Line 5 is the intercom line for the 1a2 key system.

I did not do the wiring as this was before I had the understanding of 1A2. I had a guy that built this system for me with the features that I was looking for. I also liked the all in one cabinet as I did not have much room to mount any extras out side of the cabinet. Also I did not have much understanding and the layout of the 1A2.


Now since I have the understanding of the 1A2, I just wired up a 511 KSU with one phone and will be adding a second 25 pair amphenol cable to add a second phone.



Once I get everything connected I will post the photos.

Once setup it works without any interruptions or service needs. I do not touch mine long ago since putting it into service and making the final arrangements.

On my 551C I’ve used an control relay from electronic PBX, which let me switch the entire system from ringers to buzzers signaling and back by dialing an internal number. I like this feature for the night or testing, when you don’t want everything to ring with full volume.
