Hi Everyone,

I just put an order in to ATT to change my ground start pbx trunk lines to loop start pots lines for our Mitel SX50 installed in 1994. I was reading on the forums and other websites how to change over the programming on the system and wanted to confirm the steps. I am a little confused how to get to register 2 so if someone could clarify that part. Previously I was told that I am using 4 trunks (573, 577, 579, and 580)

Here are the steps I think I need to do:
1. Hold Status
2. Enter password XXXX and let go of status
3. Enter 70
4. Enter the first trunk number I am using '573' push enter
5. Scroll over to register 2g and make this a '0' (my question is how do i get to '2g'. What is the difference between 1g and 2g? How do I scroll down to 2 and over to g?)
6. Push enter
6. Perform same steps for other 3 trunks.

If someone could confirm my above steps are exact that would be fantastic!

The arrow keys on the console. To get to register 2 push "2" when you're at 573 register 1. Register 1 ,bit "g" is "Connect to Outgoing Trunk without Third Party". Not Register 2 bit "g" which is "Start Type" for each trunk.0=Loop, 1= Ground.

What battery? Where is this module? Is this is a preventative maintenance item or will the system not work if I don't change the battery?

Any other items/issues to be aware of when changing from PBX trunks to Pots lines?

With the cover off the phone system, you can see a software module attached to the right side of the chassis. There is a small battery on it. It needs to be replaced every few years. Couple of bucks. Do it with the power ON. If the battery is bad, when the power goes, you lose all programming in the switch!

So ATT made the change and I performed the steps listed above but there is no dial tone on the sx50 console. Also if I make a call into the property from my cell phone nothing rings on the console. What should i check?

Have you tested the lines to make sure there's dial tone? Test the direct trunk access *19 followed by the trunk # (*1973 etc.)
