I have an OS7200 (v4.75) with two cabinets and both a MGI and MGI16 in the second cabinet and am setting up a test of SIP trunking and was wondering which card I should be using? By default it seems to be using the first of eight SIP trunks on virtual cabinet 6, slot 5 instead of either of the physical MGI cards. I do have a single SIP trunk working for both in and outbound calling with this default setup but assumed that I would be better off using one of the physical MGI cards, correct? For now I am using the tutorial license to test this as I don't want to purchase the MGI licenses until I know that I can get this to work. Anyway, as you can tell, I'm a little over my head here and hope that one of you expert can give me some direction. If anyone has a set of instructions for setting up SIP trunking on the OS7200 it would be greatly appreciated. I've been using some sample setup instructions from several SIP trunk providers but they don't seem to cover everything needed. Thanks.

Assuming that you have the MGI16 setup correctly with the port forwarding then you just need to remove the 8 MGI ports from the virtual cabinet in 4.1.4. That will tell the system just to use the MGI16/OAS card as the MGI source. If you are using the tutorial license just for the purpose of using the MGI on board then I would turn it off. Unless you are using it for the SIP ability as well.

Thanks - I'll try that. I was using the tutorial license just for the SIP feature as that's what I'm testing out. As I understand it, with the MGI board I won't need MGI licenses, just SIP ones. Correct? Thanks.

I haven't had any luck getting SIP trunking working with the MGI16, just the virtual MGI ports. What are the advantages of using the physical MGI ports over the virtual ones? Does anyone have a setup guide for SIP trunking with the MGI or MGI16 cards? Thanks.

Correct? Thanks. Yes, that is correct. You only have to get SIP licenses not MGI ones. I haven't had any luck getting SIP trunking working with the MGI16, just the virtual MGI ports.
