Gurus, I work for a non-profit homeless shelter that is facing difficult financial times due to the recession and decreased donations. We recently lost an Inter-Tel IP SLA in a lightning storm in a remote office. A replacement IP SLA is too expensive even on E-Bay so I’m trying to replace the functionality of it with a Cisco/Linksys SPA3102, i.e. be assigned a DID, do 4 digit dialing, station to station dialing, allow access to voice mail, etc… The remote office is connected via a stable wireless connection that I installed for network connectivity. The IP SPA worked great in this environment. I’ve found some good documents on the Internet (see below), but not for this specific need. Also, my background is in PCs, servers, and networking. I know next to nothing about PBXs and only slightly more about VOIP. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. In return for help, I’d be willing to type up a nice document as a HOW-TO and post it. The SPA3102 has been upgraded to the latest firmware, 5.1.10(GW). The hardware version is 1.4.5(a). I can currently do sip calling using callcentric.com. I set this up as a test and it works okay. Here are some useful links I’ve found: https://www.varphonex.com/support/linksys-spa3102-configuration.php https://www.3cx.com/voip-gateways/linksys-3102.html https://www.freepbx.org/support/documentation/howtos/howto-linksys-spa-3102-sipura-spa-3000-freepbx https://www.inphonex.com/support/linksys-spa3102-both-configuration.php https://www.jmgtechnology.com.au/spa_3102_guide.pdf https://www.callcentric.com/support/device/linksys/spa3102 https://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10027/index.html https://www.myciscocommunity.com/docs/DOC-9919 https://www.voipspeak.net/2007/03/guide-to-the-spa-3102/

I'm not sure I have the answers but would need to know what PBX and software version you are running Randy

I'm sorry it took so long, but here is the information.
The PBX is an Inter-Tel Axxess and the version of software is 8.2.

If the lack of response hasn't informed you, its not generally possible. With your software rev, you'd need the seperate Inter-Tel SIP Server platform tied into your Axxess system in order to implement in a generic SIP endpoint client device like the Linksys SPA. The normal Axxess VOIP setup doesn't usually have the SIP server installed.
Most PBX vendors find SIP too limiting, so they use their own proprietary VOIP protocols to do the signalling required.
I believe the newer Inter-Tel boxes (ie. 5000 series?) may have native SIP endpoint in them, but the Axxess did not, and your best bet is to find another IP SLA on the used market.

Not to hijack this thread.
But I also have a 5000 with the Audio Web Conferencing Box as well.
It seams to have an SIP server built in.
Could something like this be used to connect a Generic SIP device?
