Short version of the story. Power spike + old battery backups took this Definity down. Now, everything seems to be working ok except the Audix VM. Dialing the extension just returns a busy signal.
Customer and I tried shutdowns/restarts of the Audix and whole system (reset sys 4) and still cant call the Audix.
No worries, just log into the Audix via the COM port. Doesn't recognize my login. Try the default user/pw. No luck. Try the many variations of the default password (with 1 or 01.. w/o 'a')...No luck...
Call the original installer, we go though the defaults and even his passwords... nada...
It's been awhile but I think I remember this happening before and I can't recall the simple next step... or if I'm supposed to declare it a loss? Repair? Bad board (TN568)? Swap the SCSI drive & restore? I know they aren't supported.
Any ideas for the senile old man?

If you have spare equipment then sure. If not, then is guess work with someone paying for refurbed equipment that may not be needed.
In the old days we had crash kits.
If they plan on keeping the Definity then they will need to bear the expense of replacement parts or complete unit.
Good luck with this.
