I know that passwords aren't allowed here, and I completely understand. We have an existing NS700 that we installed years ago and are maintaining. Recently, I had to reset a mailbox password. With Panasonic's default mailbox password being <no password>, I figured that using the usual DTMF reset procedure would be sufficient. Unfortunately, it's not. My guess is that someone went in and established a different default password condition when the system was installed. Now what?

Note: Our certified NS700 technician is no longer with the company, so Panasonic won't talk to us, even though we are certified on just about everything else. The programming password for the system was also changed, so we suspect that the terminated employee did this. Yes, I know..... Call Panasonic. Return to the beginning of this note.

I assume that you have tried the defacto standard passwords.

Yes, I tried everything I can think of, including the one that our company changes all systems to. No luck.

You aren't going to like this.
Option 1. Have another panasonic vendor in the area reset the programming password so that you know what it is and can get into it. This will let you service it in the future.

Option 2. Get another person certified on the NS700, so they can get the support that is needed.

Option 3. (only if you have a backup of the programming) Reset the system back to zero and reprogram.

True. I pretty much knew the answer as I've been certified on just about every other product they have made since the early 90s. Even though we talk to the same support people on a regular basis, they're pretty strict about crossing the line. We have someone in the process of certification on the 700, but it's a low-priority issue since we don't have many of these systems out there to support.

Other than the switch on the front of the system is turned to initialize, the passwords could have been changed. Backup file, default the system or Panasonic to reset password are your only options
