We have an Inter-Tel Axxess system here. A particular extension is giving me some grief. It lost it's dialtone, and when unplugged and plugged back in, the dialtone is restored. Problem is, the dialtone is getting dropped once every day or so. reseated all connections to the jack and verified the cabling isn't the problem by giving it a few tugs at every transfer point, no drop. Suspected it was a handset going bad and was reaching an error threshold and being cut off by the system. Swapped with a different phone, same behavior. ARGHHHHHHHHH!

Try swapping to a different DKSC port, it seems to be the only piece left in the puzzle. If that doesnt clear it, recheck your earlier steps, you may have eliminated something prematurely.

RABBLE! Rabble, rabble! No luck with that. Swapped it over to another DKSC port, no luck. I also replaced the jack at the phone end. I'm going to trace all the jumps in the line and re-punch down. Is it possible the Axxess system is disabling the phone due to errors? Would I be seeing a SYSALARM on my admin phone if it was doing so? Thanks ahead of time.

You should see alarm 100 or 101 if it was anything to do with the phone, jack, wiring etc. Is it an IC dial tone you are loosing or CO? We are sure it's on the handset? Several 86XX phones had bad speaker leads or loose chips in the phone usually caused the phone to loose the speaker. The chip has created some weird issues so, you might try to reset it. Pull the back of the phone down to expose the lower part of the board and you will see a square chip if it snaps in try pushing it down if it's soldered to the board that isn't your issue Hope this helps Randy
