Silly Question. We have an older axxess system. 8.1 Sometimes the vm indicator lamp on the phone will go on showing that there are x # of messages waiting. After listening to the waiting messages, which are always less than the listed # the phone still will display y number of messages waiting.
I.E. if there are 5 messages listed and there are 3 reall messages after they listen to the messages then the phone will still show 2 mesages waiting.
Usualy has happned to the receptionists line but today has happned on a different extension.
any ideas on how to zero out the waiting messages?

Sounds like those may be call back msgs. Try 366 without picking up the reciever, or feature 366.

When the lamp is flashing, try pressing the message key with the handset in the cradle. The display will show the message source - either a mailbox number or another station that lit the lamp.
It's possible that there's more than one mailbox associated with the keyset, or more likely someone calling the station, and pressing the message key. Shortcut to clearing the lamp is [MSG] * with the handset in the cradle.

Thanks for the things to try. Sorry for the delay, got sidetracked onto other problems...
I would suspect it is a callback msg that is lighting the lamp but cannot figure out what the extension is that prompted it.
Hitting the msg key while in the cradle just launches the call to the vm system with the prompt to enter your password.... Is there another way to trigger a response on where the call back msg orriginated from.
msg * also does not clear the lamp msg just triggers the call to the vm box and the prompt for the password....
Feature 366 just asks for the extension to cancel the Call back on.
